Publishing Today ...

Publishing today involves more than just printing a book, journal or newsletter. It involves marketing in numerious ways, social media placement, web 3.0 semantic mapping technology*, cross literature research validation**, placement in information space environments***, and placement on interactive worlds. Publishing is about traveler or user generated content as much as it is about the initial manuscript.

Community Building, management of digital property rights and registrations is also a key element of publishing in todays environment.

Digital property today is different than managing intellectual property rights. Intellectual property rights relate to the form of information and the media it is published on among other things.

Digital property rights as defined by the digital property framework, are much like the rights associated with real world real estate. These are about the rights associated with a piece of digital property or virtual real estate in a collaborative or interactive space. This space because it can be uniquely described and owned, has rights associated with it. These rights correspond with what can be done in or on the space.

One relates to the form of information and the other to the space and its uses. As such rights like advertising rights, mining rights, easements, and deed restristrictions are all part of the rights carried by a piece of virtual real estate.

BLP supports standards provided by the Academic Standards Institute (ASI), American Association of School Librarians (AASL), American Library Association (ALA).

Some of the organizations we publish for:

** Cross literature research - checks multidisciplinary fields for correlations and associations relative subject matter. Machine readership allows for literature based discovery.

*** Informaiton space environments are also known as knowledge representation spaces and are published on the Rational Data Network.
